Taboo & Fabrizio

The weekend was super fun. Jen, Megan and Jackson came up for dinner, drinks and Taboo. I made dinner, Matt made drinks and the girls started playing the fun game of Taboo. Man that game is fun! (Don't worry Julie, it is not better then celebrity.) It was the perfect night until Jacquie and I realized it was 5:30am? Where did everyone go?

Then Saturday Haley, Becca, Ariel and Eric came up for some fun. Loved getting ready to Jacquie's Hatchet. I don't know how our fuze box made it! Dinner was great at Ma Jong's. (Especially when half the wine was free...) Then off to The Park for some MIP love. Matt and Jeff got us into the VIP lounge but for the Most Important People. So, we started calling it the MIP lounge.
All was well and good until we had to go to the bathroom. Is it legal for 4 restaurants and a club to have only on girls room? Maybe Graham knows?

Here are some photos from our night out in Sac: VIP STYLE.

Eastward Ho!

Flashback from a past migration. Ahhh, summer.

I am soooo excited that the girls and Eric are coming to visit this weekend! About twice a year Matt and I can get our very best girlfriends to get their booties off the R-Bar stools and get to Sactown! It is pretty great that we have a "regular crew" that comes in kind of a modern wagon train. I know how difficult it is to leave that city. But, they really love us! And for some unknown reason, it has become the Northern Las Vegas for this fun crew. "What happens in Sacramento......"

Jen, Jacquie, Becca, Megan and Eric seem to be the regulars. This time we have some Sactown virgins coming...Haley and Ariel (my two roomies from the Summer of 98 in Eugene)! We are so excited.

I will post more on Monday after The Wagon Train heads west.

High hopes for CRUSH 29

So...I have been working on this project for a while. My company branded this Bistro/Wine Bar in Roseville, CA. It is being built as we speak. And I had the pleasure of designing the logo and this great signage. (I love when clients listen to us.) The location is in Roseville, CA (the new Walnut Creek) and it is slated to open sometime mid-summer. They are going to have guest chefs every month and then the guest chef's menu will remain for the rest of the month. And of course they will have their staple menu of "Napa Bistro" favorites. It sounds freaking great. I really hope it takes off because Sacramento really needs this. The owners have designed their building based on architecture of Quintessa Winery which I had the pleasure of exploring with my best friends last spring. That is also when I discovered how beautifully Humboldt Blue goes with Cab. (Can you say "party in my mouth"?)

Anyway...more to come. Just thought I would share one of my favorite projects from this year.

What if

I was a crazy Bichon owner and my blog was all about my dog? (It kind of already is, oops.) And what if Gwen looked like this? Are you kidding me? It would be a second job to make Gwen this perfect. I can't believe people do this to their animals. Plus, how would she wear any tee shirts or sweaters? Really, the people who grow out their Bichon's hair are really missing out on the world of cute outfits and collars.

Matt should have been a trucker.

I think that Matt is very upset that we are not going to the Fiesta Bowl for one reason. And it is called "The Golden Nine." When we were in AZ a couple weeks ago for a charity golf tournament. We found this truckers stop en route to Tuscan from Phoenix.

Everyone knows that he loves food but, this was an all-time Matty-paradise. Not only did they serve cocktails with breakfast food at 9pm, if you didn't finish your cocktail they had the "roady" option. Plastic cup and straw included.

I wish I could have taken pictures of the inside for you. But, the locals were already annoyed that the girls were asking for green salads. I guess in AZ they eat tumble weed salads?

Penguin Review.

Okay...I forgot to tell you all about the Penguins.

It is fine. Very well done for someone who has no access to Animal Planet. But, bottom line, Penguins are very cool and FABULOUS parents. I know quite a few people who should take some parental advise from these great birds.

Gwen might have to take over this blog.

I am seriously lacking on the blog rhythm. It shouldn't be this difficult to keep up with the blogger's life but, I think that I am going to make it my New Year's resolution to keep up with it.

On that note, the company Christmas Party is tonight. At any normal company you might get a normal Christmas tree and normal Christmas gifts...Not here. This is one of the packages under the tree in our lobby. I love advertising.

Varuka Salt wants The March of the Penguins.

Since the day after Annie & Josh's wedding in Denver (hung over in the hotel room) I have been wanting to watch the March of the Penguins. Not that I LOVE animal movies (or Penguins for that matter) but, because it seemed like an easy movie to watch when your brain is having a hard time with concepts. I mean, that party was so fun You've Got Mail would have been difficult to follow. So, there I am, fluffy robe, Diet Coke and March of the Penguins, pretty much heaven, right? And then for no good reason (NFL football) Matt was dead set against it. So, there I am mean, grumpy and mad that I don't get MY movie. (Matt loves when my Varuka Salt comes out). So from there it became a joke. At every hotel stop this year there it would be, on the hotel room cue ready for me to watch and Matt would have some sporting event more important. When we were in Portland, San Francisco, even at home on Pay-per-View...I wasn't allowed to watch it.

"Whitney, why didn't you just go out and rent it on your own or see it in the theater?"

"Sorry, blog readers, I couldn't because it was in that strange space where it was not in the movie theaters or on video yet. Hence, the taunting of the hotel movie selections."

So, that is that. You get it, I have wanted to see this movie FOREVER.

Well, I get a phone call from Matt today. He bought March of the Penguins on DVD. And I get to see it tonight. What if I hate it like Jen hated the Rennie's Landing movie? What if all this anticipation is leading me into the biggest disappointment ever? Was I Fake-Pumping myself for this many months?

To be continued....
